What we do for family business
We help families sort out problems ranging from day-to-day operations to issues of succession and perpetuation. We help them to turn into a tool for self-expression, innovation and legacy. Our approach, based on a psychodynamic perspective of running a family business, enables us to understand and address issues and problems that are often less apparent to others.
Like all organizations, a family business requires a cohesive business purpose and mission supported by a corresponding organizational structure, effective systems and processes, clear accountabilities, and appropriate leadership practices. But family members must also address their relationships—a source of energy in a family business, or a continuing cause for conflict. Family owners must in particular plan for succession and perpetuation.
How we proceed:
We begin by meeting with the owner or owners to review the history, direction, culture, and perceived problems. We may also interview other family members and key non-family employees. We then provide our assessment, identifying the most critical issues and make recommendations for addressing them.
